Archery is a fascinating sport and can be enjoyed on many levels, from
casual shooting for fun to Olympic Champion status. To get the best out of
your shooting, a training course is essential. Once you have learned the
basics of good technique and safe shooting, you can progress as far as you
want.

The NFAS has two levels of membership. The introductory level enables you
to shoot at club evenings and events. If you only shoot casually, this will be
perfectly adequate. Eventually you may want to enter local or national
competitions and this will need the endorsement of a club official to get you
the second level of membership.

To get you started, our course comprises six, two hour lessons. Five
evening sessions take place in the range and the final session takes place in
our wood to teach the basics of field archery.

There is a set agenda for each evening and check lists to chart progress
and note areas that may need extra work. At the end of the course we have
a short, multiple choice question and answer sheet to check that we have
explained everything clearly. Along with the certificate of completion, this
paperwork forms a useful information pack for future reference and, should you
move to another club, it will give your new coach an idea of your progress.
